Local Spots We Love

Lovely Local Places

There’s plenty to do nearby, whether you fancy something active, a relaxed day out, or just somewhere a little different to explore.

From gardens and coastal spots to good food and a bit of adventure, there’s something for everyone within easy reach of the farm — and plenty worth travelling a little further for too.

The Donkey Santuary

A really lovely day out if you’re happy to go a little further afield. Set in beautiful countryside near the coast, the sanctuary is home to hundreds of rescued donkeys.

It’s free to visit and perfect for a gentle wander, with plenty of space to explore and a relaxed feel throughout. A nice option if you’re looking for something a bit different and easy-going.

Bidlake Riding Centre

A lovely option if you fancy getting out on horseback and seeing the countryside from a different perspective.

Bidlake Farm offers rides through the surrounding fields and countryside, with a relaxed and friendly feel. It’s always a popular choice with guests and something a little bit different to include in your stay.

Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens

A really lovely place for a wander, especially on a sunny day. The gardens are full of unusual and exotic plants, with winding paths that take you through different areas, each with its own feel.

It’s somewhere you can take your time, stop for a coffee, and just enjoy being outside in peaceful surroundings. A great option if you’re looking for something calm and a bit different from the coast.

Bridport Market

A really lovely way to spend a morning if you’re around on a market day. Bridport Market runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays and is full of local stalls, food, vintage finds and all sorts of interesting bits.

It’s a great atmosphere, with plenty to wander around, and lots of cafés and spots to stop for coffee while you’re there. Definitely worth a visit if it lines up with your stay.

Tunnel Tree Tops

If you’re after something a bit more active, Tunnel Tree Tops is a great option. Set in the trees just outside Charmouth, it offers high ropes, climbing, zip wires and a range of outdoor challenges.

It’s a fun way to mix things up during your stay — whether you’re feeling adventurous or just want to try something new. A really good choice for couples or anyone looking to add a bit of activity to a more relaxed break.

Abbotsbury Swannery

Set along a beautiful coastal lagoon, the Swannery is home to hundreds of swans and makes for a gentle and easy walk.

It’s a slightly different kind of day out, with plenty to see as you wander through the reserve. Particularly lovely in the spring and early summer, but enjoyable all year round if you’re after something relaxed and a bit out of the ordinary.
